St. Gallen liegt am Südufer des Bodensees, nur ein paar Seemeilen von Friedrichshafen entfernt. Trotz der relativ kurzen Piste, verfügt St. Gallen über ein ILS-Anflugverfahren und verschiedene SIDs. Für angehende Piloten ist dieser Platz ein optimaler Ort, um auf kleinen Flugzeugen die ersten IFR-Schritte zu wagen, da Orte wie Zürich, Friedrichshafen, Basel, Innsbruck und Stuttgart nicht weit entfernt liegen. Fortgeschrittene Piloten dürfen sich mit grösserem Gerät auf die kurze Bahn wagen.

St.Gallen is situated at the south bank of Lake Constance and only separated by a few miles from Friedrichshafen. Eventhough the runway is rather short, the airport has an ILS approach and several SIDs. The airport is an optimal place for pilots to take first steps in IFR flying on smaller aircraft. Bigger airports such as Zurich, Friedrichshafen, Basel, Innsbruck or Stuttgart are within reasonable distance. Advanced pilots can approach the short runway with bigger aircraft.
